January Consumer Spending Report
Spending Growth A Bit Lower But Relatively Steady This Month – Amazon and Apple Continue to Outperform

January 18, 2011

A January ChangeWave survey of 2,754 U.S. consumers shows spending growth is a bit lower but remains relatively steady after the big surge registered in our previous survey in December.

The current survey shows a spending uptick for Household Repairs/Improvements, though few signs of momentum within other categories. As expected, overall consumer electronics spending has slowed in January.

However, two companies continue their outstanding performance and remain at or near last month's peak holiday levels.
