Rising Consumer Interest in Broad Range of Alternative TV Offerings – Pre-Release Demand Results for Google and Apple High-Def Smart TVs

February 28, 2012

Alternatives to the traditional TV subscription model are drawing increased consumer interest and scrutiny, according to a recent ChangeWave Research survey. ChangeWave is a service of 451 Research.

Along with a rise in both current and planned consumer cord cutting behavior (i.e., canceling traditional home TV service), the survey shows broad interest in a range of alternative TV offerings – including feature-rich Google and Apple High-Def Smart TV sets if they were to go on sale.

The January 26 – February 2 survey of 1,324 consumers also looked at the battle between free and paid Internet Video Providers, along with which Internet Connected Devices have the most momentum.

Report details include:

  • A Look at 'Cord Cutting' Trends Among Consumers – including satisfaction levels with alternative options
