Spending Holds Steady in April as U.S. Consumer Confidence Improves

U.S. consumer spending is holding relatively steady in April although the impact of inflation and higher energy costs continues to be felt by consumers, according to a new ChangeWave survey.

Importantly, the survey of 2,710 consumers – completed April 12 – shows a modest uptick in consumer confidence and expectations, along with improved spending on household repairs and travel/vacations.

Several major retailers are showing renewed momentum this month, and on the home entertainment front two key companies have hit their highest levels ever in a ChangeWave survey.
