How We Do It

What is the ChangeWave Research Network and Who Are Its Members?

The ChangeWave Research Network is a group of 25,000 highly qualified business and technology professionals – as well as early adopter consumers – who over the past 16 years have joined to form one of the most unique intelligence gathering networks in the world.

Our proprietary process is based upon the systematic collection of valuable information directly over the Internet from accredited members. ChangeWave surveys its Network members weekly on a range of business and consumer topics, and converts the information into a series of proprietary, large sample, quantitative and qualitative reports.

The intelligence provided by ChangeWave offers a real-time view of consumer spending and corporate purchasing, as well as company, technology and business trends in key market sectors. The survey results also provide an in-depth perspective of the macro economy – well in advance of other available sources.

Nearly half of members (48%) have advanced graduate degrees (e.g., Masters or Ph.D.) and 87% have at least a 4-year bachelor's degree.

Members represent a broad cross section of vertical markets such as software, telecom, healthcare, energy, hardware, manufacturing and retail, along with a wide range of professional disciplines including IT decision makers, programmers, executives, sales personnel, engineers, and physicians.

How Do We Maintain Quality Control?

The proprietary "secret" to maintaining quality control over the worldwide research network is threefold:

  • Membership Application and Accreditation: Members undergo a rigorous accreditation process before being admitted into the program. Since its inception, only 50% of applicants have been admitted as members.
  • Membership Profiling: To be accepted, members have to fill out a comprehensive profile including their employment information, educational background, and specific areas of expertise – all of which enables us to target and engage them in a variety of ways to enhance the quality of information gathered.
  • Membership Grading & Verification: Every 6 months, each member is graded on both the quality and quantity of their participation. Grades are based on a 4.0 grade point system. Each member is also asked to verify their employment data every year, ensuring that we have the most up-to-date info in our database.
