Strong Seasonal Uptick in U.S. Consumer Spending for December

The signs of improvement in our November consumer survey have continued in December, with our latest ChangeWave survey showing a strong seasonal pickup in overall U.S. consumer spending, led by upswings in consumer electronics and restaurants. ChangeWave Research is a service of 451 Research.

The survey of 2,502 U.S. consumers, completed December 16, is showing the most bullish consumer spending behavior of the past six months, coupled with improvements in consumer confidence and expectations. Overall spending growth, however, is still below that of a year ago
